Fenton Streetscape Update

Fenton Streetscape Project 2015

The streetscape project is going well this week with the contractor starting the water main installation.  We have had a suggestion that pedestrians crossing at the intersection on LeRoy north of Ellen St. have had some safety concerns about traffic being able to see them. In order to make this safer we are requesting that pedestrians cross LeRoy south of Ellen St. by the bridge. Signage has been ordered that will inform pedestrians of this and the signs will be installed early next week.
The week ahead for construction will include footings to a handicapped accessible ramp that will be constructed at 101 W. Shiawassee (Sweet Variations). Sidewalk Construction in this area will also begin.
In addition, Champagne-Marx will be boring underneath the Shiawassee River placing the new water main there.  This will require the closing of the parking lot entrance to the Fenton United Methodist Church on LeRoy Street for most of next week.  There will be access to their parking lot on Ellen Street and access from Walnut Street to the Municipal Lot. No water shutoffs are planned at this time.

For people near the construction zone, please be aware of your surroundings and be safe when near the work. If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to emailstreetscape2015@cityoffenton.org.
