FENTON, MI – Mark your calendar to attend the 5th Annual Fenton ArtWalk on Saturday, July11th 2015, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Downtown Fenton. The Fenton ArtWalk will be held
back to back with the 14th annual Bastille Day Race hosted by The Laundry from 7:45 a.m. to 10 a.m. The Lakes Area Visual Artists return to show artwork and host Family Activities by the River at the Fenton Community and Cultural Center (FCCC) on Leroy, and have also coordinated fun art competitions and a spectacular opening reception July 10 from 7-9pm at FCCC to kick off and enhance Fenton ArtWalk. Enjoy Music by Triplicity Piano Trio, and light refreshments while strolling the exhibit and meeting the artists the night before the big day.The Fenton ArtWalk, a delightful community event celebrating arts and culture, is a wonderful way to experience Downtown shopping, dining and entertainment and be closer to art and community. Be sure to take part in the People’s Choice Vote for your favorite Merchant Window Decor on the City of Fenton Facebook Page and you can vote for your top picks for Artzy Hat Prize, Fine Art Exhibit, and Billmeier Camera Photo Contest at the Fenton Community and Cultural Center (FCCC). Parks & Recreation and Fenton Community & Cultural Center will host Family Activities by the River. The Fenton Jack R. Winegarden Library has opened its doors to ArtWalk again this year, and invites kids of all ages to create a duct tape craft. The Fenton United Methodist Church and First Presbyterian Church will also host artists.
ArtWalk will run from The Laundry at the corner of Shiawassee and Adelaide in Dibbleville, then north on Leroy to the Biggby Coffee and Kimberly Kay Furniture near The Fenton Hotel.
Remember to head west to Pipsqueak Boutique on Adelaide where you’ll find FREE face painting that the kids will absolutely love! And just south of the Fenton House, get your festive FREE balloon art at St. Jude’s Episcopal Church on Elizabeth.
Ladies won’t want to miss “Artsy Eye” makeup application with Jane Iredale Cosmetics at Rejuv Ave Skin Spa, and while you’re there, register to win a Gift Basket, worth $500 (need not be present to win).
Live entertainment and fun activities for the whole family will be featured throughout the event.
Rough Draught Coffee and Barroom will host LIVE music. Biggby Coffee, Jets Pizza and Kimberly Kay are hosting a plein air canvas airbrush artist. And don’t miss JaZaM! Kids Rock music playing LIVE at Biggby and local favorite Tie-Dyed Giants LIVE at the FCCC outdoor stage! The Community Orchestra, celebrating 5 years, return to the FCCC outdoor stage as well. The strolling Fenton Lakes Chorus – Sweet Adelines will be back to sing a cappella and the “Living Art” program of Corunna High School Art Club returns with living statue appearances for added enjoyment. Michael Kassel will play ukulele at Crust and the Boy’s & Girl’s Club of Greater Flint Steel Band will play the steel drums at Vek’s Garage, filling the air with a festive Calypso beat. Stop by Fenton’s Open Book to meet nine authors for book signings. And be sure to watch for The Poetry Gals performing theater skits and sonnets all around town.
