Truck Town Thunder takes the Field for District Level Competition

For three years now, Truck Town Thunder has been partnering with the Girl Scouts to bring FIRST to girls in Southeast Michigan. The Girl Scouts are one of the fastest growing groups involved in bringing FIRST to youth in all communities. Truck Town Thunder girls spend time at Girl Scout events promoting FIRST as wellTruck Town Thunder Michiganas present at the beginning of their season to parents on how to administer a team. Truck Town Thunder is excited to present their 20th robot since 1998 to compete in this year’s challenge FIRST Stronghold. Truck Town Thunder’s student lead experience is leading the state in STEM Education. The FIRST Progression of programs is an excellent educational opportunity for all ages, Kindergarten through Twelfth grade. Starting with FIRST Lego League Jr. Program for K-3rd graders, FIRST Lego League for 4th-6th Grade, our Middle School Program FIRST Tech Challenge and our capstone high school program, FIRST Robotics Competition, the program is perfectly suited for students of all ages in the surrounding areas. Truck Town Thunder Robotics begins competing this weekend at the Lansing FIRST Robotics District Competition on March 25 and 26th at Mason High School. Students from Brandon and Holly High School are excited to return to Lansing to defend their title from last year’s Lansing Event. The team will also be presenting for the elusive Chairman’s award in hopes of continuing their reign of one of the top four programs in the State of Michigan. The following Weekend on April 1 the team will be traveling to Howell to compete in the Howell FIRST Robotics District Competition. The team will be competing to earn the most points in order to qualify for one the 102 spots at the Michigan State Championships on April 15-16 at the Deltaplex in Grand Rapids. Week 2 Rankings have Truck Town Thunder ranked in the top 20 teams competitively in Michigan. (http://robozonetv.com/fim-team-rankings/)
