The weather is breaking, the birds are chirping, and spring feels like it is really in the air now! This time of the year is one of my favorites – youth baseball and youth soccer are starting up their seasons. I love seeing all the kids’ active, enjoying outdoor sports, and having fun.Let’s not limit the outdoor fun only to the kids – let’s get the adults included in the spring sports! Southern Lakes Parks & Recreationis taking registration for the Adult Kickball League and the Adult Softball Leagues. These leagues are a great way to stay active, have fun, and to meet new people in the community. The Adult Co-Ed Kickball League will play games on Thursdays at the baseball fields at the Ellen Street Campus. Games are reminiscent of the kickball games many of us played in school, bringing about team comradery with friends. (And a little healthy competition!) The league begins games on May 5th, and will run through June 23rd. Games start at 6pm. Teams must have a minimum of 10 players on the field at one time, with a maximum of 18 people on the roster. Teams are $75/team. The Adult Co-Ed Softball League has two sessions. The first session will take place on Sundays, April 24th to June 5th. Games will take place from 6pm to 8pm. The second session will take place on Tuesdays, May 3rd to June 14th from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. This is a 12 game season, with double headers. Teams must consist of 12-15 players. Teams will pay the umpire $15/team, per game. The registration fee is $412/team. Put a team together and sign up today! Have fun cheering on friends, practicing your batting, and showing your kids that you’ve still got game! Interested in signing up for a team? Please stop by the SLPR main office at 150 S.
