The SLPR Winter Spring Brochure is Full of FUN!

Let it snow, let it snow….let is snow  — at least on February 11th!   SLPR is ready for snow to hit the ground this year, as we are very excited about the new upcoming  Snow Graffiti Contest! This is a brand new special event, geared for children ages 7-10 years old.   It is an art show in the snow of sorts – where participants will be judged on their snow creativity.  Each participant will be given an area in the snow to create their very own magical masterpiece.  Participants can bring any supplies they deem necessary to create their work of art.  Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places.   Pre-registration is required, so please register early to ensure your spot.

If the snow and cold don’t quite thrill you, the hallways of Fenton High School are open thissouthern lakes parks recreation fenton michigan winter for Indoor Walking.   Those wishing to participate simply need to stop at the SLPR office to pick up their walking badge.  For safety and security, walking badges are required. Walking takes place Monday through Thursdays, 6pm to 8pm.  For more detailed information of dates and times, please visit the SLPR website at www.slpr.net

Many other new programs are starting up this winter, including:  Cane Self Defense Training, Women’s Empowerment, Adult Kickball League, Adult Soccer Leagues, Paint your Pallet, Lego Party, Toddler Time, Olympic Fencing, Robotics & Coding, and MORE!

Winter registration for 2017 is also open for our Dance program, Gymnastics program, Swim program, and Driver’s Training program.  Interested in volleyball?  Check out the AAU offerings for volleyball, as well as a beginner’s volleyball program.  We also offer adult volleyball leagues for women.

Mothers of those lovable sons – mark your calendar for the “Mother-Son Dance,” taking place on Friday, March 17th.  Dancing, refreshments, and memories are ready to be had for all!  Getting married soon?  Bring your spouse-to-be and have fun at the Wedding Workshop – First Dance Made Easy.  Two sessions of this new class will be offered this Winter and Spring, brought to you by Up Beat Dance Studio.

Fitness always makes headlines in January too.  We want you to have options to be fit all year round, and enjoy being a healthier you.  Join us for popular pilates and yoga classes, or try a martial arts class with us. Zumba and Pound classes are back on the schedule too!  Keeping moving during the winter months can be a challenge, but we are here to help keep you active (and having fun, no matter the weather!)

We have lots of instructional programs for children, designed to get them moving and having fun.  Does your child love cheerleading?  Cheer with us on Monday evenings!  We offer cheer classes for children ages 4-10.  Interested in Lacrosse?  We have an instructional program taking place during the Winter months, and a new spring league forming.  Horseback riding is still an option too at Wind Walker Farms indoor arena.    Soccer kicks off in April with Coach Tony.  There are soccer classes for the wee little ones, all the way through our Soccer Academy.

Looking to shoot hoops?  We have several options for those that love basketball!  If you are looking to improve upon and learn new basketball skills, try  a Jr. Hot Shots basketball class.  In 6th grade and looking to join a basketball league?  We have one for you!  Just looking toss the ball around on a Sunday? Join us for Sunday Open Gym at the Ellen Street Campus!

Golf doesn’t have to end just because the weather has changed.  Children can still learn and practice golf etiquette indoors!  SLPR is offering Indoor Instructional Golf again this winter.  We have classes for children ages 4 – 7 years.  These classes fill fast, so we recommend registering early.

Are you a senior looking for activities during the winter months?  We offer Senior Fridays at the Fenton Community Center every week.  Play bunco, bingo, euchre, and enjoy a monthly lunch.  Please call our office for the complete schedule, or check it out online at www.slpr.net.   Are you a senior that enjoys the benefits of water aerobics?  Check our Senior Splash!  That crew has a great time at the pool.  We would love you to be a part of it.  Be sure to also take a gander at the Cane Self Defense and Chair Yoga this winter –all geared to keep you healthy and young at heart.
