Working on cars is a tough job even on the best of days. But add in the heat and humidity of hot summer days in Michigan and the task can almost become unbearable. Take a break. Sit down to a feast of an overstuffed taco or tamale with refried beans, rice, and a cold soft drink. The day magically gets better. Especially if the delicious food comes from the Tamale Rose food truck parked outside your work. Wait, there’s an added bonus, it’s free.
Lasco Ford treated their Parts and Service employees to free lunch for their dedication and hard work. Celebrating a record month for the new “state of the art” service facility on Owen Road. Hiring Jim and Rose Curnutt to bring their mobile Mexican cuisine and set up shop in the parking lot.
The Tamale Rose food truck serves “Authentic West Coast Mexican Food.” Weddings, open houses, corporate lunches, and catered affairs are just a few of the events Rose cooks for. Hot, fresh, and palate pleasing dishes are served in minutes from the fully equipped kitchen in the clean, brightly painted trailer.
How’s the Food?
I tried the Carnitas Tacos. Seasoned pork, topped with chopped onions, cilantro, cheese, and a lime slice. Wow, so tasty. A generous serving filled two fried corn shells. The meal included sides of beans and rice. With a tangy Pico De Gallo if you want to spice thing up a little. Top it off with your choice of a cold soda, yes!!!!!
You can find Tamale Rose at local farmer’s markets on the weekends. Owosso on Saturdays and the Howell Market on Sunday’s. Plus they cater events all over Southeastern Michigan. The event fees are very reasonable. Booking the truck is a flat $150 fee and festive menu selections offer taco and tamale combinations for just $12 per person.
