As promised, this week The Lasco Press is covering The 2017 Rocky Mountain ATV/MC AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship presented by Lucas Oil. The event is held annually at the Loretta Lynn Ranch in Hurrican Mills, Tennessee. Fenton resident Ryan Valade qualified in two divisions for the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship. Riding in the Vet Class 30+ and the Senior Class 40+ on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. We will bring daily updates on Ryan’s on-track activities.
While Monday was practice day at the track. Monday was our travel day from the Fenton area to Tennessee. Out the door at 5:30 am we opted to travel Interstate 69 to Indianapolis and then I-65 south to Nashville. This took us out of midday traffic around Cincinnati where construction on the bridge into Kentucky has traffic snarled at all hours. You see some strange things traveling the roads. Like the air plane with no wings, flying low on the back of a trailer.
Making good time we cruised past Indy at 10:30, five hours in and no significant delays. Minor construction in some spots through Indiana only dropped the speed for short distances.

Driving a Ford C-Max from Lasco Ford. This car is freaking awesome. Getting 40 miles per gallon while driving 75 mph buzzing down the road. Sirius Satellite Radio keeping the classic rock tunes blasting. Chanel 25 Classic Rewind was cranking Queen’s Fat Bottom Girls, The Eagles’ Hotel California, Cheap Trick’s Dream Police, and Zepplin’s All My Love. Just to name of few of the tunes we heard.
Lunch in Louisville at one of my favorite eating spots. Skyline Chili is known for they heaping servings of Chili 3-ways. Spaghetti noodles topped with the secret recipe chili from Cincinnati’s Lambrinides’ brothers, finished off with a mound of shredded cheddar cheese.
The End of a Long Day
On to Nashville with a little slowdown for early rush hour traffic. Take I-40 West and the Loretta Lynn Ranch is about 60 miles west of Nashville. A short drive off the Interstate to Hurrican Mills brings you to the Ranch in under 10 minutes. Collect our credentials, tour the camp, and visit the track. Walk the infield and check out the camera angles that will provide the best shots of all the moto action tomorrow.
Looking forward to watching Valade compete. Check back this week, we will keep you updated on this progress.
