The first practice session for Sunday’s Pure Michigan 400 is in the books with the Wood Brothers’ Ford of Ryan Blaney(21) posting the fastest speed at 203.591. Other Fords in the top 10 included Brad Keselowski(2) 5th, Clint Bowyer(14) 6th, Kevin Harvick(4) 8th, and Joey Logano(22) in 10th.
Over 200 Miles Per Hour
In all, 14 drivers topped 200 mph on NASCAR’s fastest track, Michigan International Speedway. Including June’s FireKeeper’s Casino 400 winner Kyle Larson in 7th and Kurt Busch in 14th at 200.061. Last week’s winner, Martin Truex Jr.(78) was 4th, Denny Hamlin(11) 3rd, and Kyle Busch(18) in 2nd.
Other Notables
Michigan native Erik Jones(77) topped 200 mph and sat 12th fastest. Ricky Stenhouse Jr.(17) 15th, with Aric Almirola(43) 23rd, and Danica Patrick(10) 29th fastest. Dale Earnhardt Jr.(88) making his last Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series start at MIS was 17th at 199.440.
