Off Season Events at Michigan International Speedway, Here’s the Scoop


Racing at Michigan International Speedway is complete for this year. But that does not mean the Speedway has locked their gates and shuttered the windows. There is still a lot happening during the off-season at our local NASCAR track in the beautiful Irish Hills.

Get your best deal on Ticket and Campsite renewals before the November 30th, 2017 deadline. Lock in your tickets and campsites for the 50th Anniversary at Michigan International Speedway in 2018 at the lowest prices. Renewals for both Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series weekends are on sale now.

It is easy for all the track’s guests in 2017 to renew their seats and campsites for 2018 to guarantee another summer of fun. Fans can visit or call 888-905-7223 to speak with a renewal agent in person.

“We are excited to offer our loyal customers the best prices during the renewal period for the 2018 season,” track President Rick Brenner said. “We are striving to create layers of reasons for people to attend race week in 2018. Next summer is a can’t miss at MIS between the camping, the fan plaza, free concerts, fireworks and week-long entertainment.”

By renewing your grandstand and/or campsite you are guaranteed the best pricing of the season. Renew now and save up to $70 per grandstand ticket and up to $60 per campsite. Children 12 and under are free on Fridays and Saturdays. On Sundays, children 12 and under tickets start at $15. Children 12 and under can attend three days of NASCAR action for just $15, ensuring families a weekend of fun at affordable prices.

A Full Week of Fun

Here are some of the experiences that fans will see in 2018:

· Reserved grandstand seating returns for Saturday in both June and August

· Free Saturday post-race concert and fireworks return

· Week-long entertainment in the campgrounds and New Holland Fan Plaza

· Combined Pit & Paddock and Driver Introduction Pass
· M-50 and Brooklyn Trails campgrounds return to opening on Monday

Prices on all tickets (even Friday and Saturday), infield wristbands, campsites, pit passes, hospitality and more will go up after the renewal period. The only way to get the best pricing is to renew before Nov. 30.

MIS Holiday Light Show Expands

In 2017, Nite Lites is expanding to a three-mile show after entertaining guests for 20 years with a 1.5-mile display. The longer show will include 500,000 more lights, 12 additional displays and four more tunnels for guests to enjoy. Guests will view all of the lights right from the comfort of their vehicles while listening to holiday music.

The lighting display will be open for cars beginning on Nov. 23 at 5:30 p.m. It will remain open every day until Dec. 31. Hours are from 5:30 – 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 5:30 – 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The cost is $20 per car. All veterans and active military personnel are admitted free on Dec. 7.

On Dec. 1-3, 8-10, 15-17 and 22-23 the Winter Wonderland display will be open from 6 – 9 p.m. Children can tell Santa their Christmas list and take a free train ride from 6 – 8:30 p.m. There will be crafts and concessions to enjoy before going through the display. The reindeer will be here 6 – 9 p.m. on Dec. 8, 15 and 22.

5K Run/Walk Benefits the Miss Jackson Crossroads Scholarship Pageant

Participate in the annual 5K Christmas Run/Walk on November 22nd, starting at 6:00 pm. Money raised benefits the Miss Jackson Crossroads Scholarship Pagent. Since 2014, the Non-Profit Charity has provided over $35,000.00 in cash and in-kind educational scholarships to local contestants. Run through the Speedway and enjoy the Christmas Light Display before it’s opened to vehicle traffic.

Ninth Annual MIS Cares Charity Track and Toy Drive is Dec. 2

The MIS Cares Charity Track and Toy Drive is on Dec. 2 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. There’s no better way to get into the holiday spirit than feeling the 18-degree banking in the corners and making a difference in someone’s life at the same time.

Guests may take a lap in their personal automobile around the track in exchange for a new, unwrapped toy or a bag of nonperishable food. All food items will be donated to the Brooklyn Food Pantry in Brooklyn, Michigan and the St. Mary’s of Good Counsel in Adrian, Michigan. In addition, the toys will be donated to the U.S. Marines Toys for Tots in both Jackson and Lenawee Counties.

Guests will have the opportunity to visit with Santa in the Michigan Room, so don’t forget your list. Photos with Santa will be available from April Scott Photo, LLC starting at $5. Children are invited to color a holiday card that will be sent to active military members.
