Pump Up for Pink Event at Lasco Ford Raises Money for the Fight Against Breast Cancer

Pink is everywhere! October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the color pink is prominently displayed. Pink reminds everyone of the fight against breast cancer. Molly MacDonald is the Founder and CEO of the Pink Fund. Her charity focuses on addressing the financial difficulties breast cancer survivors often face as they deal with the impact of the disease on their lives. Molly was the headline speaker at the “Pump Up for Pink” fundraiser held Friday, October 20th at Lasco Ford.

While considerable attention is drawn to the efforts to find a cure for breast cancer, the financial wellbeing of patients currently struggling to battle the disease is often overlooked.  A breast cancer survivor herself, Molly shared her personal experiences and offered encouragement for families going through the ordeal of diagnosis, treatment, and the resulting challenges. The event was well attended and brought this issue to the attention of local Fenton area residents.

In addition to Molly’s remarks, Matt Lasco, Vice President of Lasco Ford, welcomed the guests. Hungry Howies provided pizza and Panera Bread brought Awareness bagels to complement the theme. Dealership supplier Snap-on Tools contributed giveaways to visitors. Ford Warrior-in-Pink merchandise, as well as Angel of Grace Awareness Bracelet sales, raised funds and contributions were accepted. The Holly High School dancers attended to pump everyone up with some fun entertainment.

According to Molly, “A breast cancer diagnosis can destroy the financial health and well-being of the patient and their family. While in active treatment, many patients are unable to work and experience a loss of income that can result in catastrophic financial losses and the need to rebuild financial health. The Pink Fund provides financial support to help meet basic needs, decrease stress levels and allow breast cancer patients to focus on healing while improving survivorship outcomes.”
