Ken Block’s Ford Escort Has Burned To It’s Death

It was just back it April that Ken Block announced his plan to compete with his 1991 Ford Escort in 2018.  The schedule included the new Americas Rallycross Championship, Gymkhana Grid, WRX World Rallycross, and a few other events.

Unfortunately, we have learned that the famous Escort has burned to the ground.  The well known trendsetting 1991 Ford Escort finally met it’s last corner as it slipped into a roll and caught fire.

Sometimes things go wrong in racing. And when they do, they go wrong real quick. @kblock43 and @AlexGelsomino were in 3rd overall at New England Forest Rally this weekend, when this roll-to-fire happened (because gearbox issue). The footage shows Block driving into a corner and rolling the vehicle to the right and it catching fire quickly after coming to a stop.  Fortunately his co-driver and himself escaped the vehicle without injury and actually had the time to video it burning to a crisp.
