Ford Performance has been teasing us with glimpses of the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series Mustang. Today at Ford’s World Headquarters in Dearborn, the cover came off. In a production worthy of the excitement generated, the new Mustang made its debut.
Media and Ford employees received invitations to view the unveiling attended by Ford and NASCAR executives, NASCAR team owners, and drivers. Tony Stewart drove the car through the plastic barrier to present the new Mustang to the assembled guests. Just yesterday the 10,000,000th Mustang rolled off the assembly line at the Flat Rock Plant.
The Mustang is the 4th model brand Ford’s used in the Cup Series during the modern era of the sport. The Thunderbird and Taurus, long retired, gave way to the Fusion. The current model on the circuit. The Mustang has been Ford’s moniker in the NASCAR Xfinity Series since 2011. However, Ford hits that the Cup Mustang has a completely new appearance and configuration.

The timing of the announcement was set to coincide with NASCAR races scheduled at Michigan International Speedway this weekend. The Corrigan Oil 200, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race is set for Saturday afternoon. With the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Consumers Energy 400 on Sunday afternoon.
