“Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.” But, ice will slow things down a bit. A mail carrier in the Detroit suburb of Oak Park had trouble climbing iced over stairs to make a delivery. She prevailed, but before resuming her rounds she took the time to grab a bag of salt and treat the steps.

The bag of salt sat on the porch of 80-year-old Florence George. The foul weather prevented Florence from getting out to spread the salt around. Going beyond the call of duty is not required for postal service employees. Florence appreciated the gesture and just wanted to give her a hug. However, the dedicated carrier swiftly moved on to the remaining stops on her appointed rounds.
