Video: Duke Basketball Star Injured When Shoe Blows Out

DURHAM, North Carolina, February 21, 2019

In a freak incident last night, Duke Basketball star Zion Williamson injured his right knee. The contest between #1 Duke and #9 North Carolina drew national interest. Only 34 seconds into the game Williamson made a move across the top of the key. He foot appeared to slip and an awkward split left him sprawled on the floor in pain.

The video shows Williamson’s size 15 Nike basketball shoe came apart causing a sprain to his right knee. North Carolina went on to win the game 88-72.

Williamson had been averaging 21 points and 8+ rebounds a game for the Blue Devils. It was unknown at the time the extent of the injury and how much time Williamson may miss from the lineup.
