Wild and Wacky Bets You Can Make on the Super Bowl

2100

Supposedly more money is bet on the Super Bowl than any other sporting event. From picking a numbered square in office pools to legal sports betting at casinos. Going into this evenings game the Patriots were listed as a 2.5 point favorite. A standard bet would be to wager on the Rams to win by adding to points to their total score. Or betting the Patriots to lose after taking away 2 points from their total score.

Other methods of wagering include the over/under bet. Experts predict the total number of points scored in the game will be 56. You can bet the combined score will exceed that total (over) or fall short (under).

Bets Tied to Businesses

Buffalo Wild Wings (BWW) operates 1,200 restaurants in the U.S. and 9 other countries. Super Bowl Sunday is a big day for the chain. BWW says it is the busiest day of the year for both dine-in and take-out. Last year BWW served over 14 million boneless and traditional wings.

This year, if the game goes into overtime, BWW will provide one free snack size order of wings. The promotion can be claimed on February 18, 2019, between 4 and 7 pm. Both conference championship games in this year’s playoffs went to overtime. However, there has been only 1 overtime game in Super Bowl history. Vegas odds are long on a repeat of that happening this year. A $100 bet would be worth $650 if the teams are tied at the end of regulation.

Other Wacky Game Day Bets

Rather than betting on the outcome of the game, sports books offer what they call proposition bets. They involve things associated with the game. Whether something will happen or not. Whether something that is scheduled to happen occurs in a specific manner. Take for instance the coin toss, there will be one. The chances of the outcome being heads or tails are 50/50. You can bet on either as an even money bet.

You can bet on:

Who will win the MVP Award? Tom Brady (NE) 7/5 and Jared Goff (LA) 5/2 are current favorites.

Who will score the first touchdown? Sony Michel(NE) 11/2 and Todd Gurley (LAR) 6/1

How long will it take Gladys Knight to sing the National Anthem? Over/Under 1 min. 50 sec.

Many Prop Bets Are Listed With +/- Amounts

For novice bettors, a bet listed as +300 means if you wager $100 dollars and win your payout would be $300. A bet listed as -500 means you would have to wager $500 to win a $100 payout.

So get together with some friends, break out the pennies, snacks, and drinks. Wager on some of these crazy bets offered at Vegas Sports Books.
