Are you a talented amateur software developer? Are you passionate about writing code? Do you create your own apps? If so, prepare your best analytic skills. Spud Software, an award-winning software development corporation based in Grand Blanc, Michigan, is hosting the Spud Coder Challenge. A competitive software coding competition on Saturday, May 11, 2019, from 10 am to 4:00 pm at 9478 S. Saginaw Rd., Grand Blanc, MI 48439.

The Spud Coder Challenge is Spud Software’s inaugural coding competition, putting beginner level programmer’s skills to the test. The event is a one-day, 6-hour contest with multiple programming tasks. Each component allows participants to demonstrate their talents working through challenges for a final grand prize of $1,000, the second prize of $500 and the third prize of $250.
Registration is open to coders with no full-time programming experience over the age of 18. Everyone registered will enjoy pizza and soft drinks throughout the competition. The first 20 qualified competitors will receive a free commemorative t-shirt. Coding challenges typically serve as a pre-interview to assess technical/coding capabilities on candidates. They are most often given to new graduates or interns, but anyone may be subject to
a coding challenge. The focus for the Spud Coder Challenge is to engage entry-level software developers that have never had a full-time programming job with problem-solving and basic coding skills and assess their suitability for the industry.
