It’s standing room only at the top of the leader board after Day 2 at the Masters. A total of 5 players share the lead at 7 under after 36 holes of play. Francesco Molinari used 5 birdies combined with his 2 under round on Thursday to take the lead in the clubhouse. Jason Day also started the day 2 under, but it took 6 birdies after a bogey at the 12th to match Molinari’s round and tie for the lead.

Yesterday’s co-leader, Brooks Koepka, opening nine was an up and down adventure. He birdied the 1st, double-bogeyed the 2nd, birdied the 3rd, and bogeyed the 4th. Another bogey on the sixth hole and it looked like Koepka might disappear. He was able to right the ship and 3 more birdies gave him a 1 under round of 71 to share the lead for the 2nd day.

Adam Scott and Louis Oosthuizen both ended the day at 7 under as well.  Oosthuizen matching the 1st round leader’s score of 66 to reach the tie at the top.

Bryson DeChambeau could not match his tournament-leading form from Thursday. He shot 75, dropped to 3 under and is tied for 16 heading to the weekend.

Crowded at the Top

Four players are tied for 6th, including Tiger Woods. A round of 68 placed Tiger right in the middle of the battle. Dustin Johnson, Justin Harding, and Xander Schauffele joined Tiger at 6 under par. Schauffele started the day 1 over, his 65 today is the lowest round of the tournament so far.

Notables

Jordan Spieth almost played himself out of the tournament with an opening round 75. A 68 today brought Spieth back to finish the weekend, he sits at 1 under, 6 strokes out of the lead. The cut at the top 50, plus anyone within 10 strokes of the lead, left 65 players to contend Saturday and Sunday. One of which was Matthew Fitzpatrick who shot a 78 yesterday, followed that up with a 67 today and finished in a tie for 46th, at 1 over.
