Fenton’s Concerts in the Park Kick Off with the Fenton Community Orchestra

It’s time to get the lawn chairs out, pack a picnic, gather the family, invite some friends, and get ready for a fun evening of music in the park with the Fenton Community Orchestra (FCO). The FCO will close out its 9th season by kicking off Fenton’s summer Concerts in the Park series. The free concert will take place in Rackham Park behind the Fenton Community & Cultural Center on Thursday, June 6 at 7:00 pm

The FCO is conducted by Music Director Andrew Perkins and will be performing a variety of classical, jazz and pop tunes for the outdoor concert. In addition to serving as FCO’s Music Director, Andy is also the Director of Instrumental Music for Fenton Area Public Schools and an accomplished composer. “We would like to congratulate Andy on his composing and orchestration work,” said FCO Chair Kirstin Tesner. “The National Band Association announced this past Monday that Andy was the winner of the 2018 Alfred Young Band Composition Contest for his composition of Gradients for Concert Band.”

Summer Entertainment

Summer concerts at the Fenton Millpond Park Gazebo are a tradition loved by the community. Spending a fun and entertaining evening on the grass by the Millpond is the kind of activity that makes Fenton a family-friendly locale. This year’s lineup includes a variety of music from assorted genres, something for everyone.

The FCO is supported in part by a grant from the Michigan Council of Arts and Cultural Affairs and the National Endowment for the Arts. The FCO is also supported by a grant from the Greater Flint Arts Council Share Art Genesee Grant Program that was made possible by the Genesee County Arts Education and Cultural Enrichment Millage funds.

FCO a community-supported orchestra that provides a place for musicians of all ages to connect through music by offering an educational and entertaining music program for its members and audiences. About the Concerts in the Park Series

The Fenton Concerts in the Park Series is presented by Southern Lakes Parks and Recreation and sponsored by the City of Fenton DDA. The series runs every Thursday starting on June 6 at 7:00 p.m. with the FCO. In the case of rain, the concert will be held inside the Fenton Community & Cultural Center.
