There is just something about sitting by the lake and enjoying some good food that appeals to all the senses. If I were going to open a restaurant, finding a piece of lakefront property would be the starting point.
That’s exactly what the folks at the Ponemah Lakeside Lodge did. Open for just over a month the new restaurant on the North side of Silver Lake Road between Silver Lake and Lake Ponemah is set in an ideal location. Gorgeous views from the dining room, back porch, and outdoor bar make it the perfect place for a relaxing lunch break or an evening out.

The Food
Scenic views are nice for a restaurant, but the food has to match the panorama to make the experience complete. No worries there. The Ponemah Lakeside Lodge has a menu full of taste-tempting dishes to choose from.
The appetizer list starts out with Trash Can Nachos. A Giant Can is layered with house-made tortilla chips, lettuce, tomato, onion, queso, black olives, fresh jalapeños, fire roasted corn salsa and your choice of shredded chicken or ground beef…Flipped tableside! According to Lodge General Manager, Megan, it’s a popular share-able to kick off any meal.
We tried the Boom-Boom Shrimp with waffle fries and cole slaw. The spicy sauce over the crunchy breading on the fried shrimp was tangy but not overpowering. Allowing the flavor of the combination to come through. The waffle fries were crispy and plentiful. The coleslaw a unique blend of greens and cabbage.

Burgers
For the main course, it was a toss-up between fish and chips or a burger. Having been told that burgers were a house specialty that helped make the decision easier. Among the various combinations for dressing up some ground beef sits an interesting option. The Surf n’ Turf Burger is crafted with a Certified Angus Beef Prime patty, a house-made jumbo crab cake and served with lettuce, tomato & remoulade.

The crab cake was delicious, not too strong with a sweet taste that complimented the flavor of the beef patty. Ordered well done, the burger patty was perfectly cooked, and not the hockey puck you sometimes get from spending too much time on the grill. The remoulade sauce, the ideal choice for extra flavor.
A Broad Ranging Menu
Other items on the Ponemah Lakeside Lodge menu included Detroit Style Pizza, Submarine Sandwiches, Beach Buns with some interesting options to choose from, and of course some seafood dishes. Salad choices are numerous including a Watermelon Salad made with fresh watermelon, mint, and arugula. Try that on a hot summer afternoon.
The Lodge has a full bar, beer on tap, including a number of specialty brews.

You can sit out back at the open-air bar or play some darts and pool inside with the big screen televisions. There is even a dock to tie up to if you arrive by boat.

The atmosphere is similar to that found at the other two locations of the restaurant group, The Barn and The Fenton Pub.
