Genesee County, MI — August 20, 2019
This year’s Genesee County Fair is the 170th edition of what began as an event modeled after America’s First State Fair in Detroit during 1849. One of the principles the organizers in Flint stated as a purpose for holding their fair was “to provide a common ground where people can socialize and be entertained in a family atmosphere which at the same time is educational.”

The definition of entertainment has certainly changed, but the principles remain the same. Has it been a while since you attended a local fair? Here is what you can expect from the Genesee County Fair.

How to Get There
The fair is held at the E. A. Cummings Center, 6130 East Mt Morris Rd, Mt Morris, Mi. From I-75 Mt. Morris Road is exit 126 and the fairgrounds are 9 miles east of the Interstate. The area is also home to Crossroads Village and Huckleberry Railroad.
Parking at the Fair is $10 per day or $20 for the week. Admission is included with the parking until 7 pm when walk-ins are charged $5. Tickets are required for the rides and can be purchased at booths throughout the fairgrounds. Wristbands offer unlimited rides and are a good deal if you plan on trying for multiple thrills on the midway.

Both kiddie rides and adult versions of fair rides give every age group a selection of exhilarating fun.
Fair Food
Corn dogs, sausage hoagies, fresh-cut fries, elephant ears, funnel cakes, and fresh-squeezed lemonade. Enough to make your mouth water just reading that list. All that is available within 25 yards of the entrance.

Plenty of benches, tables, and chairs offer places to relax and enjoy the cuisine.
Activities
Play bingo, stroll through the 4-H exhibits, visit the horse barn, play the carney games, or enjoy the funhouses.
There are plenty of activities, enough to spend the day. The petting zoo gives kids the opportunity to feed the animals. Seems like they can never get their fill as eager goats line the fence looking for a handout.
Visit vendor displays, learn about something new. Then hang around for the evening’s entertainment.
