The Top 10 in the AP College Football Poll saw a shakeup this week as Georgia dropped from the ranks of the unbeaten. A 20-17 double-overtime loss to South Carolina saw the Bulldogs sink from 3rd to 10th in the rankings.

LSU jumped from 5th into 2nd with a 42-28 win over 7th ranked Florida. The Gators stayed in the Top 10, only falling to 9th. Alabama remains atop the poll with Clemson 3rd, Ohio State 4th, and Oklahoma 5th.

Michigan Survives a Scare

Michigan led 28-0 at halftime. However, the Illini scored 25 unanswered points and the fourth quarter was a bit tense until the Wolverines scored twice to take the win 42-25. The victory allowed Michigan to retain its 16th rank in the Top 25 poll.

Michigan State Stumbles Again

Don’t look for the Michigan State Spartans (4-3) to return to the Top 25 ranking anytime soon. Wisconsin, ranked 6th this week, destroyed the Spartans 38-0 exposing the lack of offense and an overrated defense for the guys from East Lansing. Michigan State has a week off before welcoming the 7th ranked Penn State Nittany Lions to Spartan Stadium on October 26th.

Dates with Illinois and Michigan await in early November. It’s quite possible Michigan State may need wins over Rutgers and Maryland the last two weeks of the season just to become bowl eligible.
