Fenton, MI — November 20, 2019
Last night the College Football Playoff Selection Committee released this week’s Top 25 rankings. The Top 5 remain the same as LSU continues to hold onto the top spot, Ohio State and Clemson are next. Georgia, the highest-ranked of the one-loss teams holds the final playoff spot at number four, with Alabama in 5th.
The game of the week features 8th ranked Penn State at the 2nd ranked Ohio State Buckeyes in a contest that will clarify the Big 10 championship, bowl, and playoff picture.
Michigan Continues to Inch Up
After taking Michigan State to the woodshed for a 44-10 trashing, the Wolverines moved up to 13th. Of the teams with two losses, only Florida and Wisconsin rank ahead of Michigan at 11th and 12th respectively.
With a tough game at Indiana Saturday and Ohio State coming to town the following week there is the potential to climb higher in the rankings. Given the right set of circumstances, Michigan could find itself in the Big 10 Championship game and then who knows.
Wolverine quarterback Shea Patterson deserves a shoutout for his 24 of 33 passing performance that included four touchdown throws.
Michigan State in a Freefall
The Spartans Saturday loss to cross-state rival Michigan was the 5th defeat in a row for Michigan State. As we predicted a few weeks ago Sparty may fail to qualify for a bowl game this year. With a record of 4-6, State must win at Rutgers and at home against Maryland in the next two weeks to become bowl eligible. And then the only invite might be to take a trip to Detroit for the December 26th Quick Lane Bowl.
