Firehouse Subs is noted for their support of first responders with their Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. The popular sandwich chain has a location in Grand Blanc at 11501 S. Saginaw St., Ste. B. Franchisees Rachel, Neal, and Debbie Porter, with their staff, partnered with Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation to donate 120 meals to local healthcare workers.

So far, donations have been made to the ER staff at Hurley Medical Center, McLaren Flint, and Ascension Genesys Hospital. It is great to know that donations dropped into the red buckets at Firehouse Sub restaurants find their way back into our community.

Local Support

Grand Blanc Firehouse Subs Assistant Manager Lilly Bowman

Grand Blanc Firehouse Subs Assistant Manager Lilly Bowman shared; “As a sophomore pre-med student, I volunteer at the Ascension Genesys Hospital ER in Grand Blanc, and unfortunately due to the pandemic, all volunteering has been suspended until further notice. I wanted to find a way to help out in the meantime.”

Bowman went on to explain; “Our owners, the Porters, were kind enough to suggest donating meals through the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. We scheduled a donation during National Healthcare Volunteers week. I usually volunteer to work late nights in the ER so I know the third shift does not receive many donations given the time of day.”

“We wanted to ensure the third shift staff was taken care of. We delivered four standard platters and one combo dessert platter to third shift staff at the three emergency health care facilities in our county. We have also been delivering a lot of catering orders to the local hospitals, many provided by anonymous donors. It is an honor for us to help serve our community in such a way during these trying times.”

Kudos to all who help workers on the front lines of the pandemic battle. If you would like to donate to support the relief efforts of the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, you can do so online at https://firehousesubsfoundation.org/donate/
