Tournament officials announced today the creation of a new charity initiative for the 2020 Ally Challenge presented by McLaren. This year’s tournament will feature an online auction designed for local and national fans to engage with the tournament and give back to causes supported by The Ally Challenge, primarily the United Way of Genesee County. The auction will launch on Monday, July 20 and bidding will remain open through the final round of the tournament on Sunday, August 2. More details about the auction, including available items and how to participate, will be revealed soon.

“The online charity auction, together with the Birdies for Charity presented by Ally program, will help anchor the tournament’s philanthropic initiatives in 2020,” said Andrea Brimmer, chief marketing and public relations officer, Ally. “Giving back is at the center of everything we do at The Ally Challenge, and the tremendous impact of the Coronavirus pandemic in our community and beyond makes that mission more critical now than ever.”

In other tournament news, the field of competitors for the third annual The Ally Challenge is setting up to be the strongest on record. Current commitments feature The Ally Challenge reigning champion Jerry Kelly, and nine out of the top-10 from the 2019 Charles Schwab Cup standings. The past 14 winners of the coveted Charles Schwab Cup are also represented in this year’s field, as well as PGA TOUR Champions rookies and major champions Ernie Els and Mike Weir. Other notable players entered in the 2020 Ally Challenge are World Golf Hall of Fame members Bernhard Langer, Vijay Singh, and Mark O’Meara ¾ all past winners of the Masters Tournament along with Weir ¾ as well as fan-favorite John Daly and Michigan native Tom Gillis.

The Ally Challenge presented by McLaren will be one of the premier Regular Season events on the PGA TOUR Champions schedule, which annually gives way to the Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs – a season-ending, three-tournament series used to determine the Tour’s season-long champion. Due to the circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic, PGA TOUR Champions has combined its tournaments in 2020 and 2021 to form one season, and the next Charles Schwab Cup champion will be crowned in November 2021 at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship.

All three rounds of The Ally Challenge will be broadcast on Golf Channel in the United States. Internationally, telecasts air in more than 170 countries and territories, reaching more than 340 million potential households, and are distributed in 15+ markets via GOLFTV.
