Lost in the media frenzy of the initial stages of COVID-19 pandemic, Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) made an announcement on March 26, 2020. In the course of the company’s relocation from Cypress, California to Franklin, Tennessee, MMNA made a change in corporate leadership. Yoichi Yokozawa was named president and chief executive officer, replacing Fred Diaz.

It’s a return to a familiar position, Yoichi was previously president and CEO of MMNA from April 2011 until February 2014. Since joining Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) in August 1998, Yokozawa, 55, has held senior-level positions throughout MMC’s financial, strategic planning, Nissan-MMC Alliance, and global marketing and sales organizations.

“Yoichi is an experienced team player, and his global background and previous North American experience will serve him well as he leads the MMNA organization forward,” said Guillaume Cartier, MMC senior vice president responsible for Global Marketing and Sales. “We are grateful to Fred for his accomplishments and commitment to Mitsubishi Motors. He steered the company to sales successes in a challenging U.S. market, built a strong leadership team, strengthened the U.S. dealer partner network, and laid the foundation for the future of a successful Mitsubishi Motors in the United States.”

The Right Car at the Right Time

With Mitsubishi’s low price point, exceptional fuel economy, innovating design, and incorporated safety features, buyers receive the maximum value for their dollar. “Sales are booming,” according to Ryan Valade, General Manager of Grand Blanc Mitsubishi. “Many people have taken a financial hit during the current health crisis and they are looking to get the most they can when they part with their hard-earned income. Here at Grand Blanc Mitsubishi and at our sister store, Waterford Mitsubishi, sales incentives currently in place are providing big savings to customers looking to lower their transportation expenses.”

New Leadership, New Commitment

With Yoichi’s leadership, Mitsubishi’s commitment to the North American market is expanding.
