Genesee County, MI — December 12, 2020

Everyone recognizes the great service that Meals on Wheels provides. Delivering hot food to seniors and shut-ins locally is a much needed and greatly appreciated act of charity that many members of our community rely on. But, the wheels don’t turn if there is no one to drive them.

The Genesee County Community Action Resource Department (GCCARD) operates the Meals on Wheels activity in our area. They are in desperate need of drivers. According to the department, they are short five drivers and are hiring immediately. Each driver services a route with 35 to 55 stops, so the employee shortage has a significant impact on those who depend on meal deliveries.

Being a Meals on Wheels driver is a paid position. So, not only are you helping a great cause, you’re getting paid to contribute to your community. Have you got some extra Christmas bills to pay off, been looking for something to do, need a job to help finances during the ongoing pandemic? This is an opportunity to do something great, feel good about your efforts, and put some extra cash in your pocket.

The virus has hit the elderly community especially hard, many seniors that were able to get out now stay inside to protect their health. And with winter coming it becomes more difficult for them to drive.
