NASCAR Remembers Those Associated With the Sport Who Passed in 2020

Daytona Beach, FL — December 12, 2020

One of the most memorable parts of the NASCAR year-end awards banquet is the few moments when the sport pauses to remember those of the greater NASCAR family that have passed away during the previous year.

While 2020 saw such notables as Junior Johnson, Maurice Petty, Ray Wood, and John Andretti leave us, many more individuals closely knit to the racing fraternity passed on.

With the cancelation of the banquet due to this year’s pandemic, the “In Remembrance” video was released today along with a statement by NASCAR President Steve Phelps.

Steve Phelps Statement

As you well know, a unique sense of family has bonded NASCAR throughout its 73-year history. And that is why, at the end of every season, we take a moment to remember those in the NASCAR family who we have lost in the last year.

We dearly miss each and every one of those family members, but as we read each name and watch each image, we are heartened by the joyous memories they brought to many of us. We hope you take the time to view this video, as we honor those we have lost and cherish their memory, forever.

Regards,  Steve
