Augusta National Golf Club, Augusta, GA — April 10, 2021
Moving day at The Masters provided a big move at the top of the leaderboard. Hideki Matsuyama matched Justin Rose’s 1st day lead of four strokes by shooting the low round of the tournament, a 7 under par 65. The bogey-free round featured a birdie on the front nine and a spectacular four birdies and an eagle on the backside.

Often a contender in professional golf’s majors, but never a winner, Matsuyama knows success at Augusta National. In his debut at the 2011 Masters, Matsuyama was the low amateur. On Sunday morning he will tee off in the final group well on his way to earning his first green jacket.
Xander Schauffele was the other golfer who shot up the leaderboard, firing a 68 for a three-round total of 7 under par. He is tied for 2nd with Marc Leishman, Will Zalatoris, and Justin Rose who shot even par for the 2nd straight day to forfeit the lead he held through the first two rounds.
Likely Too Far Back to Contend for the Win
Corey Connors continued to cut strokes off his daily scores going 73-69-68 to move into 6th at 6 under. Jordan Spieth who shot his way into contention on Friday, moved out of a realistic position to win with an even-par 72 to stay at 5 under, 6 strokes off the lead in 7th.
Brian Harman, who started the day tied for 2nd, dropped two strokes to par and now sits 8th at 4 under.
Four strokes is a huge number to overcome on the final day of The Masters. However, anything can happen when the leaders make their way through Amen Corner. Just ask Spieth.
