RedBud Mx, Buchanan, MI — July 3, 2021
As usual, the racing at RedBud Mx was spectacular. Dylan Ferrandis(14) put together a 1-2 finish in the two 450MX Motos to take the overall title in Round 4 of the LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS series.
Seeing the landscape filled with enthusiastic fans was just as exciting.
The traditional 4th of July celebration of patriotism and dirt bike racing was sorely missed last year. The fans were glad to be back and the riders responded by putting on a show.
Dylan Ferrandis the 450MX King
In Moto 1, Ferrandis was 6th for the first three laps before making his march to the front. Aaron Plessinger(7) sprang out of the starting gate as the lead rabbit, taking the holeshot in both motos and riding out front from the start. Ken Roczen(94) led for 9 laps before being caught and passed by Ferrandis three laps from the checkered flag.
Moto 2 again had Plessinger out front early, but only for a lap. The crowd’s favorite, Eli Tomac(3), rode past on Lap 2 and never relinquished the top spot.
Ferrandis got a better start and settled into 4th. He had to battle with Roczen lap after lap before moving up to 3rd on the 7th circuit of the track. Getting around Plessinger proved to be just as challenging. A last-lap pass gave Ferrandis a second-place finish behind Tomac and the overall event title.

Jett Lawrence Continues Hot Streak
Since the start of the outdoor MX season, Jett Lawrence(18) has been the man on fire.
In Moto 1 of the 250MX class, he ran 3rd early. It took 5 laps for him to get past RJ Hampshire(24) and Justin Cooper(32). Once out front, Jett rode away for the win.
Trouble at the start of Moto 2 left #18 in 18th place after Lap 1. Recovering to finish 6th kept Jett in the points lead, but the overall 250 MX RedBud Overall title went to Hampshire with a pair of 2nd place finishes. Justin Cooper, 2nd in the points, took the moto win and gained 3 points on Lawrence in the standings.
