Taylor put up two runs in the top of the 1st inning and that was all the pitching tandem of Cameron Thorning and Jakob Furkas needed. Hawaii could only manage a single run in the bottom of the 3rd inning as Michigan advanced to the Little League World Series Championship Game.
The team Michigan defeated in the final of the Great Lakes Regional, Hamilton-Ohio, defeated South Dakota to give them another shot at their neighbors to the north.
World Series Championship Game
Again, Michigan struck early scoring three runs in the bottom of the 1st inning. Ethan Van Belle took over on the mound for the Taylor boys and put together 4 strong innings. He gave up one run on five hits while striking out eight Ohio batters.
Michigan added two insurance runs in the bottom of the 5th and they almost needed them. Gavin Ulin came on in relief to pitch the final two innings. The top of the 6th inning was Ohio’s last chance and they got busy. With two men on and two outs, Ulin hit a batter to load the bases and bring the tying run to the plate. A walk pushed one run across before a fly ball to center field got the final out.
