The wait is finally over. If you missed it, here is the way Local 4 television news reported Miguel Cabrera’s 500th career home run blast.

While fans in Detroit were disappointed it did not happen at home in Comerica Park, MLB fans in Toronto also celebrated the accomplishment. Cabrera becomes the 28th member of one of Major League Baseball’s most exclusive clubs.

Miguel had 446 homers after 2016 and it looked like he may fall short of the honor as his career is winding down. To reach the milestone before entering the final month of the season had to be a big relief for the slugger and his fans. His big hit, number 13 on the season, came off of Toronto left-hander Steven Matz.

Miggy is chasing another golden record, 3,000 hits. After Sunday’s homer, Detroit’s favorite son sits 45 short at 2,955. He is going to need to get hot over the Tiger’s final 36 games to have a chance to reach the mark that only six plays in Major League Baseball have accomplished. Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, Rafael Palmeiro, Albert Pujols, Alex Rodriguez and Eddie Murray.
