Motor City Comic Con Starts Friday

Motor City Comic Con, Michigan’s longest and largest comic and pop-culture event since 1989, will be hosting a variety of attractions, events, exhibits and guests during this year’s convention, October 15 – 17

It’s Here! After canceling in 2020 due to the COVID Pandemic, The Motor City Comic Con is back and it starts this Friday, October 15th at the Collection Showplace in Novi, MI.

Motor City Comic Con, Michigan’s longest and largest comic and pop-culture event, since 1989, will be hosting a variety of attractions, events, exhibits, and guests during this year’s convention, October 15 – 17, at the Novi Collection Showplace.

This year’s lineup will also feature actors from television, movies, and the streaming industry, along with the most creative artists, writers, and comic book creators in the industry.  Motor City Comic Con’s annual event takes place every May and because of the health restrictions, the 2021 event was moved to October 15-17, 2021.  The convention will return to being hosted annually in May and will take place May 13-15, 2022.  Both events will take place at the Collection Showplace in Novi.

Motor City Comic Con General Ticket Prices and Packages:
Adult Pricing (ages 13 and up) Friday – $30*
Saturday – $40*
Sunday – $35*
VIP – $249*
Adult Weekend Pass – $85*
Kids 5 and under are free all weekend
Kids 6-12 are $10* on Friday and Saturday

Kids Weekend – $20*
Sunday is Kids Day – All kids 12 and under are free

*Additional processing fees will apply

The 2021 Motor City Comic Con will be held at the Novi Collection Showplace which is located at 46100 Grand River Avenue in Novi, Michigan on Friday, October 15 (12:00 p.m. to 7 p.m.), Saturday, October 16 (10:00 a.m. to 7 p.m.) and Sunday, October 18 (10:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.).

Attractions and Events

Twisted Toonz – Saturday, 10/16, voice Actors, Jim Cummings, Nolan North, Ross Marquand, and Maurice LaMarche will read through Winnie the Pooh in different famous voices.

Autograph Services by Zobie – Service provided for those that can’t make it to the show for mail-in and pre-order autograph service.

Anime Room – Scheduled events all three days

Artist Alley – A collection of extremely talented artists and writers who come from around the world to showcase and sell their art and published works. Check out some of the most amazing original art, prints, comic books, posters, and meet the artists and authors who create them!

Cosplay Contest – Saturday, 10/16. Participants must pre-register on the website to compete.

Autographs – The best way for one-on-one time with the celebrity guests. Dates and pricing for each guest varies and will be listed on the website.

Kids Cosplay Contest – Sunday, 10/17 at 2:30 p.m. – Open to kids 12 and under. No registration fee is required, just arrive 15 minutes before the event starts.

Smallville Nights – Saturday, 10/16 from 8:00-9:30 p.m. with Michael Rosenbaum and Tom Welling as they share some of their favorite Smallville moments read scenes, and more. Admission is required.

Kids Den – All three days. Open to kids 12 and under to enjoy arts & crafts, games, puzzles, and more.

Panels / Q&A’s – The biggest attraction at Motor City Comic Con as guests are entertained and able to asks questions to their favorite celebrity, artist, or writer.

People of the (Comic) Book –Join E. Lockhart, author of the new DC graphic novel, Whistle, Roy Schwartz, author of Is Superman Circumcised, and moderator Jaemi Loeg, Senior Director of Cultural Arts at the JCC of Metro Detroit.

Photo Ops – All three days – Chance of a lifetime to have a professional photo, by Pose Photo Ops taken with your favorite celebrity. Fees and schedules vary per guest and are available on the website.

Kubert School – Join the Joe Kubert School and some of its esteemed alumni in a discussion on its historic legacy in developing the artists of the future.

Sketch Duels – All three days. Watch two coveted artists go pen to pen in a friendly, fun competition. ENTER TO WIN the original art they create as directed by you, the audience. A must for comic fans, but an amazing experience for all. All participating artists, scheduling, and location details will be announced in the Panel Schedule.

Star Wars Events – Celebrate Star Wars with The 501st Legion, The Rebel Legion, and the R2 Builders Club.

Throughout the weekend celebrity and comic guests participate in autographs and photo opportunities with attendees, for additional fees, which can be purchased on the website.  Also, attendees can attend various panel discussions, attractions, events, and explore various exhibitor vendors throughout.
