Thunder Valley Motocross Park, Lakewood, CO — June 10, 2023

Round 20, the Thunder Valley National, from Lakewood, Colorado, is the third Pro Motocross outdoor season event. Will it be any different from Round 18 and 19 when the Lawrence brothers staked their claim to ownership of the series?

Justin Cooper(32) led wire to wire in the first 250 Class moto. Hunter Lawrence(96), as has been his pattern, was not able to get a great start. Lawrence was in sixth at the end of the first two laps. However, he was able to recover and finish second.

Hunter has to get warmed up in the first race and then really comes on in Moto Two. That has been the formula for both of his overall wins since moving outdoors.

Jo Shimoda(30) earned the third spot, taking away a podium spot from Haiden Deegan(238), who finished fourth.

No issues for Jett Lawrence(18), as he again led wire-to-wire to take his fifth consecutive 450 CC moto. Never having trailed at the end of any lap. The margin of victory was 31.609 seconds.

Cooper Webb(2) and Adam Cianciarulo staged a classic battle for second place, with Webb finishing just one second ahead of Adam after racing for 15 laps over 30 minutes.

Aaron Plessinger(7) finished in the fourth spot.

Cooper again jumped out to the lead. Lawrence got a better start in this moto, running third behind Levi Kitchen(43). Just before completing lap one, Lawrence got around Kitchen, and Cooper got cross-rutted, going down and giving away any shot at the overall event title.

Lawrence just continued to pull away. Kitchen held onto the second spot, with Chance Hymas finishing third. Cooper worked his way back to the fourth spot, but his (1-4) total fell short of Lawrence’s (2-1) total that gave him his third overall win in a row.

Levi Kitchen took third overall with his (5-2) showing easily outpointing Jo Shimoda’s (3-8) overall total.

A light shower began just before the start of 450 CC Second Moto. No problem for Jett Lawrence, who again led every lap. Not only is he undefeated for the 2023 outdoor season, but he has also led every lap in six motos to date.

Adam Cianciarulo ran second for three laps until Aaron Plessinger took over the position. With a (4-2) combined finish, Plessinger earned second overall. Just ahead of Cooper Webb (2-5).

The rain did make a difference, as Lawrence could only manage to win by 12 seconds in the Moto #2.
