Michigan International Speedway, Brooklyn, MI — August 1, 2023

NASCAR’s annual visit to Michigan International Speedway(MIS) is capped by the Cup Series FireKeepers Casino 400 this Sunday, August 6th, at 2:30 pm. But there is a whole lot more going on leading up to the premier event during race week. Here is a primer to help you get ready.

MIS Camping

Almost as popular as the race, camping at MIS is a summertime family favorite activity. While infield camping spaces have already sold out for the second straight year, there are plenty of family camping options open trackside and immediately adjacent to the racetrack. Infield wristbands are available for entry nightly into all scheduled events, the infield party, concerts, and fireworks. Look for The Lasco Press roaming cameraman on Saturday night as we bring you photos from the wildest infield party on the Cup Series circuit.

Ford Performance is looking to extend its MIS win streak. There is no track on the NASCAR circuit that Ford has been more successful at than Michigan International Speedway. Ford has won eight straight Cup races at the facility and 43 overall, which is the most for the manufacturer at any track.

Leading the Blue Oval contingent is the soon-to-be retiring Kevin Harvick. The FireKeepers Casino 400 will mark Harvick’s 43rd career NASCAR Cup Series start at Michigan, the most among active drivers.

Kevin Harvick #4 Ford Mustang

Since making his first start at the track on June 10, 2001, Harvick has scored six wins, 16 top-five, and 22 top-10 finishes while leading 737 laps, all of which are series bests. Harvick’s six wins are three more than Kyle Larson and Joey Logano, who are tied with three wins apiece.

Harvick’s 16 top-fives are five more than next best Denny Hamlin (11 top-fives). Harvick’s 22 top-10s are four more than nearest pursuer Logano (18 top-10s), as are his 737 laps led, which is 147 more laps than Logano (590 laps led).

With Harvick retiring at the end of the 2023 season to enter a career in broadcasting, his sponsor recently updated their plans for 2024 and beyond. Busch Light announced that the brand has signed a multi-year agreement as the primary sponsor with Trackhouse Racing and NASCAR Cup Series driver Ross Chastain. Beginning in 2024, the beer brand will partner with Chastain to bring his adult (21+) fans along for the ride of their lives with epic, one-of-a-kind opportunities, irreplaceable memories, and access to the sport like never before.
