What, you have never been to the Michigan Renaissance Festival? This would be a good weekend to go. The Vikings are in town. No, not the Minnesota Vikings. They come to Detroit to close the NFL regular season in January. These are the real-looking Northmen right off the set of the popular Netflix series, or so it appears.

It is a Viking theme weekend for Labor Day at the Festival grounds just south of Grand Blanc. Located at 12600 Dixie Hwy in Holly, the Michigan Renaissance Festival runs weekends from now until October 1st. Check out the upcoming special occasions on the Festival Website.

Spending a day exploring the grounds offers entertainment for the whole family. Activities, shopping, shows, food, entertainment, and much more. Buy era-themed clothing, get your face painted, have your fortune read, test your medieval weaponry skills, watch the shows, enjoy the feast, visit a pub, and most importantly, just people-watch.

Gates open at 10 am, and the fun runs non-stop to 7 pm. Showtimes are posted at stages and performance venues. Strolling performers pop up at various times, and there is something going on that will appeal to any age group throughout the day. Tickets can be purchased online (recommended; avoid waiting in line). Adults, 13 and up, are $22.95. Children, 5-12 are $12.95.
