St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Announces Two Scheduled Concerts

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Flint, MI — November 10, 2023

On Sunday, November 19, at 4 PM, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church will be presenting an organ recital by Matthew Benkert. He will be performing on the Dalton Memorial Organ. With more than 80 ranks of pipes, the Dalton Memorial Organ at the church produces glorious music.

In addition, New Century Chorale will be presenting “A Home Alone Christmas.” The concert will be on Saturday, December 9 at 7 PM at St. Paul’s

About Matthew Benkert

Matthew Benkert is an organist and church musician from the rural farm town of Hemlock, Michigan. He received both his B.M. and M.M. in Organ Performance from Central Michigan University, where he studied with Dr. Steven Egler.

As a church musician, he has served Lutheran, Presbyterian, Methodist, and Episcopal denominations, including historic St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Flint, Michigan. As a performer, he has given recitals throughout Michigan and participated in masterclasses and coaching with Todd Wilson and Douglas Reed.

He is currently pursuing his Doctor of Music degree in Organ Performance and Sacred Music at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music as a student of Dr. Christopher Young. In August 2022, he was appointed Director of Music/Organist at St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Bloomington, Indiana. While not creating music, he enjoys cycling, gaming, and caring for animals.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church is located at 711 S. Saginaw Street, Flint, MI. Tickets are $12 at the door and $5 for students. MCC and U of M students are free with school ID.

New Century Chorale

New Century Chorale will be presenting “A Home Alone Christmas.” The concert will be on Saturday, December 9, at 7 PM at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Flint. This concert will include songs from the Home Alone movies and many traditional carols!

Join Artistic Director Steven Holovach for a wonderful selection of music. Plan to attend and hear some great music. A reception will follow.
