Warwick Hills Doug Brody Named Michigan Golf Professional of the Year

Michigan Section PGA, Bath, MI — March 14, 2024

In their recent announcement of Special Awards Class recipients, the Michigan Section of the PGA honored a local golf professional with a prestigious honor.

Doug Brody, a 27-year PGA Member, has captured the 2024 Michigan Section PGA Golf Professional of the Year award. This prestigious honor is awarded to the professional who has demonstrated outstanding qualities of leadership and strong moral character. The individual must also maintain a substantial record of service to the Association and game of golf and be well-regarded as a model PGA of America Golf Professional.

Brody, Head Golf Professional at Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club, is being recognized for his service to the Section and the Association, his leadership ability, his image and ability to inspire others, and his promotion of the game. He was chosen by his peers based on his overall performance as a golf professional, which is highlighted by his club’s success in Junior Golf, hosting multiple PGA TOUR events, strong business management, and successful team building. Throughout his career, Brody has served as an active participant on numerous committees not only within the Section but at his club as well. His members and staff look to him to help guide policy for the greater good of the club.

His involvement as the Michigan PGA Special Awards Committee Chair and helping lead the Motown Cup Interclub series in Southeast Michigan are areas of leadership that Brody is proud of. He hopes his work inspires other golf professionals to step up for the good of the Section and the good of the game.

The Lasco Press has worked with Doug Brody many times during coverage of the Ally Challenge presented by McLaren. We echo the comments of the Michigan PGA in bestowing the award.

Brody’s Golf Shop

This is not the first time Brody has received PGA recognition. Previously named Merchandiser of the Year for the State of Michigan Private Clubs and nominated for National Merchandiser of the Year Private Clubs by the PGA. Doug and his wife, Jenn, own and operate the golf shop at Warwick Hills.

The golf shop features a complete line of Warwick Hills logo clothing. Ally Challenge tournament logo golf balls, hats, shirts, and sweaters. Everything a golfer might need, including shoes, gloves, and clubs, can be custom-fitted by the friendly on-site staff.

A Family Enterprise

Jennifer (Kangas) Brody played on the Epson Tour and also as an LPGA Tour Professional. The Brody’s daughter, Kate Brody, is attending the University of Wisconsin on a golf scholarship.

Kate is a two-time Michigan High School Women’s State Golf Champion and Grand Blanc High School graduate.

The Lasco Press has followed Kate during her remarkable high school golf career. In an interview last year, Kate displayed all the attributes of her professional parents. The Brody golf legacy will undoubtedly continue well into the future with Grand Blanc and Warwick Hills the beneficiary.
