The 2024 Ally Challenge presented by McLaren is in full swing at Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club in Grand Blanc. K.J. Choi sits atop the leaderboard after round one played on Friday. If you want to see some great golf, 15 players are within three strokes of the lead starting play today. If you want to have some family fun, there is a lot to do today at the tournament on a Chamber of Commerce perfect weather day.
Community Concert
First on the list is tonight’s Ally Community Concert at Warwick Hills. Country music superstar Thomas Rhett will headline the seventh annual Ally Community Concert. This special event will take place on the driving range at Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club, Saturday, August 24, 2024, following the second round of competition at The Ally Challenge presented by McLaren.
Stick around after the concert to experience the return of the tournament’s fan-favorite drone show. This year’s custom light show is sponsored by Genesee County and will double the number of drones from last year’s performance to fill the sky with 200 foot tall by 400 foot wide choreographed Ally Challenge and golf-themed imagery.
Want to see the show? All ticket holders for today’s tournament round are admitted free to the concert. Tickets can be purchased on site, but the easiest way to avoid lines is to purchase your tickets on-line. There are several different ticket options available.
As always, veterans are admitted free courtesy of DOW. Children 17 and under receive free grounds access with a ticketed adult.
Celebrity Challenge
The popular Celebrity Challenge is back again this year with an all-star cast of participants. Two-time Emmy Award winning actor Jeff Daniels, singer songwriter Quinn XCII, former Detroit Red Wings enforcer Joey Kocur and LPGA legends Juli Inkster, Laura Diaz and Leta Lindley with play for $30,000 to be donated to two Michigan based charitable organizations. Follow along on holes 1, 2, 17, and 18.
Fan Zone
Just behind hole 17 is the Fan Zone, it’s bigger and better than ever with Ally Footgolf, McLaren Gong Challenge, Birdie Time is Miller Time on 17 & exhibitor activities!
Laurie Prochazka, vice president of marketing at McLaren Health Care stopped in to check out the McLaren Gong challenge. Hit golf balls over a short water hazard and if you bang the gong, you win.
