Bush Park, the 5.5-acre park bordering the Shiawassee River in downtown Fenton, is getting an upgrade. The complex off Leroy Street adjacent to Spa Naturelle is a popular spot with families featuring a children’s play area, picnic tables and it currently has volleyball courts. The upgrade will include the addition of two full-size tennis courts and two dedicated pickleball courts.
The pickleball courts will be a welcome addition to the city landscape. The fast-growing sport is gaining popularity for its simplicity, smaller court size, and slower-paced gameplay, making it a fun activity for players of all ages.
According to the cities announcement, construction has already begun and completion of the project is expected by early winter. If we have another mild, mostly snow free season, expect to see the courts filling up pickleball enthusiasts despite the cooler temperatures.
