A few days ago, we told you about Ford Performance teasing on social media about an event they dubbed “The Ultimate Raptor Challenge.” Three professional race car drivers were set to put three different Ford Raptors through their paces in a made-for-YouTube contest hosted by influencer James Pumphrey. Other than the drivers involved, that’s all we knew.
The video released yesterday was actually very entertaining. The professional racers drove three different Ford models equipped with “Raptor” trim.
Drift Driver James Deane climbed behind the wheel of a Ford Ranger Raptor. NASCAR Cup Series Champion Joey Logano drove a Ford F-150 Raptor, and multi-series driver Hailie Deegan was in the seat of a Ford Bronco Raptor.
The competition was divided into three different segments.
- Stage One, “The Rock Climb.” A 180-metre track through a rocky ravine with twists, turns, and sharp obstacles.
- Stage Two, 600 meters through shifting sands, hidden rocks and boulders.
- Stage Three, 380 meters of dune racing with the opportunity to catch some air over the final jump.
It was a promotion to draw attention to Ford’s participation in the upcoming Dakar Rally Jan 3-17 in a specially prepared Ford Raptor T-1 Race Truck.
