Fenton, MI — December 23, 2025
Traditionally, Christmas week brings out new releases from Hollywood movie producers. Blockbusters lure crowds to the big screen for some of the season’s most anticipated films. One of this year’s holiday treats is a return to the popular franchise “Anaconda.”
Anaconda (2025) relies on trusted genres; comedy, adventure, and terror. Jack Black, who appeared in the original, Anaconda (1997) stars in the reboot of the scary series with an interesting approach to continuing the theme.
Doug (Jack Black) and Griff (Paul Rudd) have been best friends since they were kids, and have always dreamed of remaking their all-time favorite movie: the cinematic “classic” Anaconda. When a midlife crisis pushes them to finally go for it, they head deep into the Amazon to start filming. But things get real when an actual giant anaconda appears, turning their comically chaotic movie set into a deadly situation. The movie they’re dying to make? It might just get them killed……
The Lasco Press received an invitation to an advance screening and we sent our fearless movie reviewer, Cassie Shay, to check out the all the publicity about the film. Here is Cassie’s review.
The movie was presented primarily as a comedy. I enjoyed how it showed previously clips from the original movie. Jack Black and Paul Rudd did an amazing job acting and playing their roles. Humorous, and truly entertaining to watch. I found myself laughing out loud numerous times, and even gasping out of shock. The movie was based on the premise of trying to recreate the “original” Anaconda film with twists and suspenseful moments that had viewers on edge throughout.
Catch it on Christmas Day 2025, in local Emagine Theatres.
