Casey Cochran(59) blasted out of the starting gate and held the early lead. Julien Beaumer(13) kept Cochran in sight while the remainder of the top 10 included all the contenders in the Pro Motocross 250MX class. Caden Dudney(82), Cole Davies(37), Jo Shimoda(30), co-points leader Seth Hammaker(10) Ryder DeFrancesco(34), Nick Romano(141), the other red plate holder Levi Kitchen(47) and Kayden Minear(99) followed.

At the 20-minute-to-go point of the timed portion of the moto, Beaumer made the pass on Cochran and began to run away from the remainder of the field. Halfway through the moto, Davies passed Dudney for third, while Beaumer extended his lead interval to over five seconds. Cochran lost another position when Davies moved up to second. Beaumer dropped his bike just before the 10-minute-to-go mark, allowing Davies to take the lead. The mistake brought the top six riders within seven seconds of the lead. With five minutes to go, the top six riders were Davies, Beaumer, Cochran, Shimoda, and Hammaker. Levi Kitchen experienced a crash early in the moto, which dropped him down in the running order. He had fought back to the eighth position. Davies, Beaumer, and Shimoda finished 1-2-3. Cochran held onto the fourth spot with Hammaker and Kitchen finishing fifth and sixth. One of Michigan’s favorite sons, Vincent Wey(220), finished 22nd in his professional debut.

An update on Chase Sexton. He is out for the rest of the year after tearing an ACL last week at Hangtown. Hunter Lawrence(96) and Cooper Webb(2) battle for the lead on the opening lap of the 450MX Moto #1. Hunter prevailed, grabbing the holeshot and moving away from the pack. Jett Lawrence(1) started ninth, and Haiden Deegan was back in the 11th spot. Hunter moved away quickly and in the first 10 minutes established a nine-second lead.

Hunter Lawrence / Photo Courtesy of MX Sports Pro Racing, Inc.

Jorge Prado(26) and Jett moved ahead of Webb for second and third. Deegan was up to fifth. Jett caught and passed Prado and began to eat into the lead his brother held on the field. Deegan passed Webb and set his sights on Prado. With 10 minutes to go, Hunter had actually increased the lead over his brother. Jett appeared to ease back and ride out the remainder of the moto.

If he can reverse the running order in Moto #2, he can still capture the overall title. Deegan could not close on Prado as the gap remained at three seconds. Webb faded to seventh, Garrett Marchbanks(36) and Aaron Plessinger(7) battled for fifth. The riders finished in that order, with Hunter Lawrence ending his brother Jett’s four-moto win streak.

Lachlan Turner(1) got beaten for the first time this year. Racing, while reportedly feeling ill, Turner finished third behind Mayla Herrick(23) and Lotte Van Drunen(401). This moto was Herrick’s pro debut and came on her 17th birthday, the minimum age to compete in this class. Van Drunen, of the Netherlands, is a two-time FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship (WMX) titleholder. She made her U.S. debut last week at Thunder Valley.

Chaos ensued at the start of the WMX Moto #2. Turner got another poor start, and Herrick crashed in the first turn; the medical crew had to be called to assist her. The AMA was forced to display the red flag, stopping the race. The stoppage was a huge break for Van Drunen; the front forks on her Yamaha YZ250F were locked in the compressed position used at the start of the race. Charli Cannon(7) held the lead when the moto was shut down. On the moto restart, Turner fired out of the gate to take the holeshot. Cannon rode in second but was losing time on every lap of the race. Van Drunen, without the assistance of the starting device, was slower out of the gate and finished in fifth place. With two laps to go in the moto, Turner got cross-rutted over a jump and crashed. Cannon made the pass for the lead and rode off to her first WMX overall win. The victory allowed Cannon to take the overall title in a tiebreaker over Turner. Mikayla Nielsen(51) took the final podium spot in the moto. Van Drunen fought her way up to fourth at the finish and secured third on the overall podium.

Storm clouds moved in, and light rain began to fall as the riders for the 250MX Moto #2 loaded into their starting gates. Cole Davies grabbed the holeshot with Kayden Minear running second. Seth Hammaker was running third when he came up short over a jump. Hammaker’s rear wheel caught, and the bike did a backflip, throwing him off. Grabbing his shoulder when he walked off the track, Hammaker was transported to the medical trailer to be checked for a possible injury. Julien Beaumer inherited the third spot, and Levi Kitchen ran fourth.

Bad news for the co-points leaders continued as Kitchen was passed by Chance Hymas(29), Carson Mumford(71), Jo Shimoda, and Ryder DiFrancesco(34) as he dropped into the eighth spot. Out front, Davies built a nine-second interval as the clock ticked under 20 minutes to go. Over the final 10 minutes of the moto, Beaumer hounded Minear until he was finally able to make the pass for second place. Davies had grown his interval to 10 seconds, and Shimoda had moved up to fourth.

Davies goes 1-1 to take the overall title. Beaumer 2-2 finishes second overall. Minear held off Shimoda for the moto podium, but Shimoda got third overall 3-4. Levi Kitchen recovered to finish fifth and holds the series points lead by one over Shimoda.

Hunter Lawrence took the early lead over his brother Jett in the 450MX Moto #2.

450MX Start / Photo Courtesy of MX Sports Pro Racing, Inc.

Aaron Plessinger, Jorge Prado, and Haiden Deegan made up the top five. Two second intervals opened in the first five minutes between the top five on the heavily rutted track. With 10 minutes down on the clock, Prado and Deegan passed Plessinger to move up to third and fourth. Out front, Hunter held a six-second lead over Jett in second. Over the middle portion of the moto, Deegan wore out Prado and moved to third place. With 10 minutes to go, Hunter was up eight seconds over Jett, with Deegan another five seconds back. If they finish the way they run, the overall results will look the same as the current status of this moto. The top three were locked into positions 1-3. Over the final laps, Plessinger worked his way around Prado for fourth.

High Point Recap

450MX: Hunter Lawrence’s second 1-1 effort of the season netted him his third career win. He and Jett now hold an equal share of victories through the first four races, with each of their respective wins coming via 1-1 sweeps. Jett Lawrence settled for a runner-up finish (2-2) and failed to win for just the fifth time in the premier class. It’s his 29th podium in 31 career starts.
Deegan rounded out the top three (4-3) with the second podium result of his anticipated rookie campaign. With the win and six-point gain on Jett, Hunter Lawrence closed to within two points of his younger brother in the 450SMX Class standings. Deegan tightened his grip on third, 38 points out of the lead.

250MX: Davies’ breakthrough afternoon (1-1) saw him become the 95th different rider to capture a 250SMX Class victory in Pro Motocross and the first New Zealander since Ben Townley at the final race of the 2007 season to stand atop the podium. The best performance of Beaumer’s career (2-2) resulted in his second podium of the season. Shimoda followed up his win from last weekend with a gritty third-place finish (3-4). Kitchen’s strong finish in the final moto left him just off the podium in fourth (6-5) but allowed him to gain sole possession of the points lead. The top four finishers in the overall results are the same four riders who occupy the top four positions in the championship standings, as Kitchen now leads Shimoda by a single point. Beaumer sits two points back in third, with Davies seven points behind in fourth. With his DNF in Moto 2, Hammaker finished 13th overall (5-40) and dropped from a tie for first to fifth, 16 points out of the lead.

The 2026 Pro Motocross Championship will observe its first break in action for the summer before an anticipated return on Saturday, July 4, for Round 22 of the SMX World Championship regular season and the sport’s own celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States from Michigan’s iconic RedBud MX. The Independence Day tradition, the 5.11 RedBud National, will be shown live in its entirety on Peacock, beginning with Race Day Live at 10 am ET, followed by coverage of the motos at 1 pm ET.
