In what has become an annual tradition, Folds of Honor Friday began the first day of tournament play of The Ally Challenge at Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club in Grand Blanc. Fans wearing Red, White and Blue arrived early to attend the patriotic opening ceremony on the 10th tee box at Warwick Hills at 10:45 a.m.
The enhanced Opening Ceremony featured a special message from Lt Col Dan Rooney (Folds of Honor founder and history’s only F-16 pilot to also become a PGA Golf Professional).
The Presentation of Colors, was followed by a stirring performance of the National Anthem by Ava Hawkins, a senior at the University of Michigan.
A Black Hawk helicopter flyover, and this year’s ceremonial first tee shot from Folds of Honor recipient family member, veteran and Gold Star Army Widow Wesley Bauguess.
Play in the 9th edition of this popular event on the PGA Tour Champions schedule began shortly after the Ceremony concluded. All three rounds of The Ally Challenge presented by McLaren are being broadcast on Golf Channel.
Tickets for The Ally Challenge can be purchased by visiting the tournament website (theallychallenge.com). The Ally Challenge is open to spectators from Thursday (August 27) to Sunday (August 30) and ticket prices start at $15. Youth 17 and under receive free grounds access with a ticketed adult. Since its inception in 2018, The Ally Challenge presented by McLaren has donated nearly $9.7 million to support charity.
