Fenton Area Parks & Recreation

Southern Lakes Parks and Recreation celebrated ten years of serving the community in 2010!

The Southern Lakes Regional Parks & Recreation District, is a collaborative effort between the City of Fenton, Fenton Township, and the City of Linden bringing a multitude of cultural and recreational opportunities, leisure classes, and events to residents of all three communities. The model developed to allow funding and operations for the SLPR is said to be the first of its kind in the State Michigan.

Housed in the historic Fenton Community and Cultural Center designed by Gottlieb Eliel Saarinen and his son, Eero Saarinen.

SLPR organizes the Farmer’s Market, works cooperatively with the Fenton Regional Chamber of Commerce to partner inJinglefest, Taste of Fenton, and other community events.

Within the city it is possible to play tennis, volleyball, basketball, baseball, and have a picnic. Enjoy a quiet afternoon feeding the ducks, fishing or reading a book by the Shiawassee River. Have a memorable wedding at a gazebo, or a family reunion at a pavilion. Enjoy nature within the city – pick a park and have fun!
